A major healthcare company with a site in Hinckley has announced plans to shut down its service centre on Dodwells Road.
Alliance Healthcare UK is restructuring its operations as part of a wider investment strategy. A spokesperson for the company stated:
“Alliance Healthcare UK is making significant investments across its network — including opening a new Central Logistics Centre (CLC) in Birmingham — to strengthen its supply chain solutions and operations, enabling the company to deliver enhanced customer service. As part of a continued focus on aligning its capabilities with customers’ evolving needs, Alliance Healthcare UK plans to close its service centres in Hinckley and Nottingham and transition slow-moving medical lines from South Normanton SC to the CLC in 2026. This decision was not made lightly. The company greatly appreciates the contributions of the impacted team members and is committed to providing support to individuals impacted by these changes.”
The closure forms part of a broader effort to modernize and consolidate operations, with a focus on improving efficiency and meeting changing customer demands. The new logistics centre in Birmingham is expected to play a key role in the company’s future distribution network.
While the news marks a significant shift for the company, it also raises concerns about job losses and the local impact on affected employees. Alliance Healthcare has stated its commitment to supporting staff during the transition period.
The service centre is scheduled to close in 2026, with further details on the transition expected in due course.
