Hastings High School Rallies to Support Head of English in Fight Against Brain Tumour
In a touching display of solidarity, pupils and teachers at Hastings High School gathered on the school field to form the letters “SOS”—a call to “Save Our Stephen.” The event was organized to raise awareness and funds for Stephen Webb, the school’s beloved Head of English, who has recently been diagnosed with a brain tumour.
Stephen, a father of two, is battling glioblastoma, a highly aggressive form of brain cancer. His diagnosis has deeply affected the school community, who have come together in support. The goal is to raise money to fund immunotherapy treatment, which could provide him with precious extra time with his family.
In addition to the symbolic SOS display, Hastings High School has launched a series of fundraising efforts to encourage the local community to contribute to Stephen’s treatment. A GoFundMe page has been set up by Sacha Johnson, titled “Treatment for Glioblastoma,” with donations pouring in from people eager to help.
Stephen’s colleagues and students have praised him as an inspirational teacher, mentor, and friend. The school community is hopeful that their combined efforts will make a difference, allowing Stephen to access the care he needs during this difficult time.
For those wishing to contribute to the cause, the GoFundMe page can be found under the title Fundraiser by Sacha Johnson: Treatment for Glioblastoma (gofundme.com). Every donation will support Stephen Webb’s fight for more time with his loved ones.
