On June 30th, racing enthusiasts from Hinckley and the surrounding areas will converge to showcase their creativity and speed in homemade soap box vehicles, vying for the title of fastest time of the day. Now in its 13th year, this event promises excitement and entertainment for participants and spectators alike.

Please note that there is a non-refundable fee of £25 for each team entry.

“This is a tremendously fun family event for the teams and spectators alike,” says one of the organizers from Hinckley BID. “Comprising both a jump or a chicane, it is the driver’s choice as they steam down the 200m Castle Street hill, cheered on by the crowds!”

Trophies will be awarded to both Junior and Senior drivers in various categories including Fastest Time, Best Turned Out, Best Novelty, Best Amateur, and Most Enthusiastic Junior. To participate in the Soap Box Derby, there are a few requirements to keep in mind. The minimum age for Junior Team Drivers is 12 years old, while Senior Team Drivers must be at least 18 years old. This ensures a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants.
