As the leaves start to change and the cool autumn breeze sweeps through, it can only mean one thing – Halloween is just around the corner! The season of spooky costumes, haunted houses, and, of course, pumpkins is upon us. One cherished tradition that gets everyone in the Halloween spirit is picking the perfect pumpkin for carving or decorating. Fortunately, in Leicestershire, there are numerous places that offer the thrilling experience of picking your very own pumpkin. Whether you prefer the classic bright orange variety or something more unique, there’s a pumpkin patch near you waiting to be explored. And many of these locations also provide additional family-friendly activities for a fun-filled day out. Here’s a list of places near Earl Shilton where you can pick your own pumpkin in the run-up to Halloween 2023.
- Boundary Farm
Boundary Farm located in Stoney Stanton is a traditional, family run, 260 acre farm with 100 milking cows, sheep and arable.
Rach, Rich, Tom and Maisie Knowles open the farm gates and invite you to share and experience the fun of farming.

- Kirkby Pumpkin Patch, Kirkby Mallory
Kirkby Pumpkin Patch opened for the first time in 2022 and it is preparing to open again this year. There will be free entry with no booking necessary
It will be open from 10am until 4pm on Saturday October 7 and Sunday October 8, Saturday October 14 – Sunday October 22 (half term) and Saturday October 28 and Sunday October 29.
As well as being able to take your pick from 26 varieties of pumpkin, you’ll also be able to take on the new maize maze and the new scarecrow treasure hunt.
There will also be a bumpy slide, hook a duck, play area and food and drink stalls. The pumpkin patch is at Kirkby Lodge Farm, Kirkby Mallory.
- Pumpkin Picking at Poplars Farm
Come on down to Poplars Farm and see where they were grown and pick your own into wheelbarrows!

- Market Bosworth Pumpkin Patch
For a unique pumpkin-picking experience head to Bosworth Pumpkin Patch. They have a pumpkin patch with an array of pumpkins for you to choose from. It’s a picturesque setting for a Halloween adventure.
- The Pumpkin Patch at Wolvey
The Pumpkin Patch at Wolvey is a rustic 10 acre field filled with over 20,000 pumpkins and squashes of all shapes, sizes and colours
Well behaved dogs on leads are more than welcome and there are toilets on site, but be sure to bring your wellies!
Prebooking is essential and the amount of visitors per hour will be limited to ensure everyone has their own space to enjoy the great outdoors.
Entry is £2 per car (not per person!) and half of the fee from every booking goes to our chosen local charity, Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice, Coventry.
