A planning application has been submitted to Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council proposing significant changes to the Lord Nelson Inn on Wood Street, Earl Shilton.
The application (reference 26/00030/FUL) seeks permission for a change of use to create a five-bedroom House in Multiple Occupation (HMO) on the first floor, along with a self-contained flat on the second floor.
In addition to the change of use, the proposals include a two-storey rear extension, a loft conversion with front and rear dormer windows, and the installation of solar panels.
Plans also show a single-storey rear extension to the pub, intended to provide additional seating space. A new staircase access is included as part of the design.
The application was received on Tuesday 13 January 2026 and validated on Friday 16 January 2026. It is currently in the consultation stage, which runs until Thursday 12 February 2026. The decision status is listed as awaiting decision.
Residents can view full details of the application, including submitted plans and documents, and submit comments via the council’s planning portal.
