A shopkeeper in his 70s was threatened with a hammer during a frightening incident at a store on Mill Lane.
The incident occurred just after 4pm on Wednesday, 19 June. While the victim was thankfully not physically harmed, the suspect stole his mobile phone, preventing him from calling for help.
Leicestershire Police have launched an investigation and believe a female passer-by may hold key information. The woman was seen near the shop around the time of the incident and was wearing a long, blue sleeveless top over black leggings.
Detective Constable Roseanna Cockerill-Smith, who is leading the investigation, said:
“I believe the woman who can be seen in the footage we have obtained may have information that can help our investigation and that she will have seen the incident unfold.
“I’m appealing directly for her to come forward and make contact with us so we can speak to her about it. If that person was you, please do get in touch.”
She also urged anyone else who may have been in the area at the time to come forward:
“Likewise, I’d also like to take the opportunity to ask for anyone who was in the area but has not spoken to police to contact us. Anything you’re able to tell us could help.”
