A Leicestershire farm has fallen victim to a “targeted raid” in which thieves cut through barbed wire fences to gain access to an outbuilding. The incident took place in Stapleton, near Hinckley, sometime between Wednesday, January 8, and Friday, January 24.
The raiders reportedly stole a green John Deere ride-on tractor mower, two electric bikes, and a large quantity of power tools. Leicestershire Police confirmed the burglary on Monday, January 28, and stated that they believe the property was deliberately targeted. Officers suspect the criminals specifically chose the location and prepared to breach its security.
Investigating officer PC Nick Taylor has appealed for witnesses who may have seen any suspicious activity in the area during the time frame. “From inquiries we’ve carried out so far, it’s believed that this was a targeted incident. The barbed wire fences were cut, and this may have been seen by someone driving by at the time. If you remember seeing anything, please contact us.”
Police are also urging anyone who may have been offered similar items for sale in recent days to come forward.
Anyone with information regarding the burglary is asked to contact Leicestershire Police on 101, quoting crime reference number 25*47890. Alternatively, reports can be made via the force’s website.
