Police are appealing for dashcam footage after a burglary at Hinckley and District General Hospital, where thousands of pounds worth of copper wiring was stolen.
Incident Details
Officers were alerted to a suspicious vehicle at the hospital’s Mount Road site at approximately 12:55 am on Tuesday, 28th January. A group of individuals is believed to have broken into a premises currently under construction, stealing valuable materials and causing significant damage.
Upon arrival, officers witnessed one of the suspect vehicles fleeing the scene. It failed to stop when signaled and was last seen heading along Rugby Road in Burbage.
Investigation and Appeal
Following police enquiries, four men were arrested on suspicion of burglary (other than dwelling). They have since been released on bail as the investigation continues.
Sergeant Fiona Day from Hinckley Neighbourhood Policing Area commented:
“Our investigation remains ongoing, and we are currently reviewing CCTV footage and conducting house-to-house enquiries. It is sad that a community resource has been targeted in this way, and this incident will no doubt impact the ongoing work on the site.
“We urge anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area to come forward. If you were driving along Rugby Road around the time of the incident and captured any footage of a vehicle driving at speed, we would like to hear from you.”
