Disused Petrol Station in Earl Shilton Could Be Transformed into Housing
A disused petrol station in Earl Shilton could soon be transformed into new homes, as the owners of the site have submitted a planning application to demolish the existing structure.
S & Y Motors have applied to Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council for permission to bulldoze the building at 106 Station Road and replace it with five new homes.
According to the submitted plans, four of the homes will be semi-detached properties, while the fifth will be a bungalow. Each of the homes will have two bedrooms.
The current building on the site, which dates back to the 20th century, is presently used as a car repair workshop and a hand car wash. It was formerly a Murco petrol station.
As part of the redevelopment, the two existing entrances to the site from Station Road will be remodelled, reducing access to just one point. The plans also include the creation of 12 parking spaces for residents and visitors.
The planning documents, available to view on the council’s planning portal, invite comments and objections until Tuesday, October 1. The council has set a target decision date of Thursday, October 31.
