Hinckley Council Expands Popular Big Bin Service to Include Garden Waste

Late last year, the Hinckley Council introduced its innovative general waste Big Bin service, aimed at residents with waste items too large for standard bins yet too small to necessitate a full skip. This service alleviates the hassle of residents needing to transport waste themselves or coordinate private collections, providing a convenient and cost-effective solution.

A Hinckley Hub spokesperson provided details on the pricing structure: “One 1100 litre bin will cost £60 for seven days’ hire or £100 for two 1100 litre bins. A 660 litre bin is available for £50 for seven days, or £80 for two 660 litre bins. Residents also have the option to extend the hire for an additional week at the cost of £20.”

Councillor Lynda Hodgkins, the Council’s Executive Member for Street Scene Services, highlighted the success and evolution of the service: “Our Big Bin Service has proved extremely popular, but it became apparent that there was a demand for a dedicated Big Bin Garden waste service. It’s ideal for having a garden clear up at any time of the year, hedge cutting, tree pruning, and large-scale mowing.”

Despite the introduction of the Big Bin Garden waste service, the traditional garden bin subscription with fortnightly collection remains available, ensuring residents have multiple options to suit their waste disposal needs.
